Suzanne Fisher lives on a five-acre block not far from Darwin in the Northern Territory. She shares this home with her husband and youngest son. With three dogs and oodles of native birds and animals, Suzanne enjoys the ‘peace and quiet’ that comes with living in the rural area. She’d tell you that it’s the perfect place for writing.
The very first story that Suzanne had published was about a little girl who called an electric blanket, a ‘licorice blanket’. This was when she was still in high school and it was published in the school’s annual magazine. Now, many years later, she is a mother of four, a grandmother of four, and has discovered the joys of writing again.
She successfully completed a course on Short Story Writing, and then the Diploma of Professional Children’s Writing with the Australian College of Journalism.
She writes stories for children and one of them, titled ‘Cookie, The Shoe Chewing Dog’ is currently published on an educational website for schools called Ziptales. This can be viewed at www.ziptales.com
Suzanne works in the library of a primary school. The students are a never-ending source of ideas and inspiration, and they are the best and most honest critics for when she needs to road test a story.
When she is not writing or working, she is either watching her son play hockey, playing hockey herself or away camping and fishing with the family.

Universal Dreaming
Marla shuddered. Nothing on this earth would make her go anywhere near that ramp. She didn’t like it or the river. In fact they terrified her. The ramp moved too much and the river was full of crocodiles!
But she and her new friend Ronnita, just had to get to the festival. They had to stop the two suspicious men from stealing the paintings!
Will Marla be able to overcome her fears and will they get there in time?
